Course Introduction
The University of Missouri Extension takes copyright infringement seriously. It is our responsibility as instructors to be compliant with the laws governing the use of intellectual property. According to Copyright.gov, "Copyright is a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works." Copyright protects your work. Our own UM System Policies has a page devoted to intellectual property for course materials. When you design an online course, you need to understand the protection applies to your own work, but also, that of others. Individuals that have dedicated their time and expertise to content, images or videos are also interested in protecting
